OVERVIEW
The Commission on Holy Spirit Empowerment in the 21st Century is a series of discussions that will address the disconnection between traditional Holy Spirit ideology and modern generations as well as discuss possible causes and solutions to this problem. There are three different groups or tracks that will be meeting to keep the discussion diverse: Leaders, Scholars and the Next Generation.
The Commission will facilitate meetings between these three groups at different times throughout 2009. This will take place in meetings around the U.S. and the world. The thoughts developed from these conversations will help shape Empowered 21: Global Congress on Holy Spirit Empowerment in the 21st Century that will convene April 8-10, 2010 in Tulsa Oklahoma.
As a result of the Commission, leaders hope that:
- Questions and solutions for the future of the Spirit-filled movement will be brought forward
- New, contemporary vocabulary will surface and be adopted
- Increased effectiveness in reaching and engaging new generations will be achieved
- Increased unity between traditional Spirit-empowered churches and emerging churches will be realized
- The continued growth of Spirit-empowered ministries will be encouraged
The Commission is being directed by the Commission Cabinet.
